This event marks the introduction of rice products developed under the Project "Sustainable development of one million hectares specializing in high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030" (refered to as the One Million Hectare Project) to the export market under the brand “Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice".

Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice Brand

To timely support the implementation of the One Million Hectare Project, VIETRISA, encouraged by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, has developed the "Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice" brand with the coordination and support of the Ministry’s agencies and international organizations including the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the Netherlands Development Organization (Transformation of Rice Value Chain Project  - TRVC) and the World Bank (WB). The Regulations on the use of the "Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice” brand were promulgated by VIETRISA on April 16, 2025.

The "Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice" brand is granted by VIETRISA to rice products produced complying with the technical procedures of the One Million Hectare Project which is verified by local authorities/agricultural agencies (at the commune level) or by accredited international organizations, ensuring the traceability (production location, rice variety, cropping season) and compliance with the technical procedures of producing high-quality and low-emission rice of the the One Million Hectare Project.

Following the issuance of the Regulations on the use of the brand, VIETRISA, in coordination with the TRVC Project, granted the Certificate of the right to use the “Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice” brand to seven companies with a total volume of 19.2 thousand tons of rice. Trung An High-Tech Farming Joint Stock Company is one of these companies, and notably, Trung An company, in collaboration with Japan’s MURASE Corporation is the first to export a batch of  rice under the “Vietnam Green and Low-Emission” brand  to Japan.

The Export Ceremony of the first batch of low-emission rice from Vietnam will be held right at Trung An Company's factory, where delegates will witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the convoy from the factory carrying the batch of  “Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice" to the port for export and visit Trung An Company's rice processing factory, witnessing the international standard production process from receiving raw materials to packaging for export.

Vietnam pioneers in bringing low-emission rice to the market

For the first time, the introduction of a large volume of rice under the “Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice” brand up to tens of thousands of tons into the market, including the first batch of rice exported to Japan, proves that Vietnam is the first country in the world to bring low-emission rice to the market, including for export.

The One Million Hectare Project has successfully implemented many pilot models in 2024. From 2025, the Project will enter the expansion phase into production. High quality and low-emission rice fields will spread more and more, in parallel, the beginning of the “Vietnam Green and Low-Emission Rice” brand today will pave the way toward a certified and national brand of  Vietnam Low Carbon Rice according to  the goals of the One Million Hectare Project, for the sustainability and prosperity of the rice sector and enhancing the position and image of Vietnamese rice in the world.
